McLaren Unveils Futuristic $2.2 Million Hyper-GT Speedtail
27 Oct 2018

After teasing the Speedtail with an 18-karat-white gold badgeMcLaren today has officially unveiled their first ever Hyper-GT supercar.

Flaunting a futuristic aesthetic with an eye-catching curvy symmetrical profile, punctuated with sleek lines and a teardrop-shaped cockpit, the Speedtail is the successor to McLaren’s first F1 model of the ’90s. Just like the F1, the Speedtail features a unique three-across seating arrangement, with the driver situated in the center. Boasting an elongated and carbon fiber body build, the Speedtail is also billed as “the most aero-drag efficient McLaren road car.”

Starting the Hyper-GT is executed by a petrol-electric hybrid drivetrain that puts out 1,035 hp with acceleration of 0-186 mph in 12.8 seconds, and topping out at least 250 mph. Additionally, the vehicle’s streamlined shape is complemented with adjustable spoilers placed at the trailing corners of the car, which are made from flexible carbon fiber, allowing them to blend seamlessly with the curvature of the surface to ensure superb aerodynamics. Furthermore, fixed front wheel covers and pop-out video cameras are implemented to replace traditional side view mirrors to exude an even more sleek aesthetic.

Other key features of the Speedtail is its advanced electrochromic glass roof, which darkens the top of the windscreen at the touch of a button, and replaces the need for sunvisors. Additionally, the vehicle can be outfitted to your liking with the brand’s bespoke customization, including interwoven carbon titanium deposition materials and digitally embossed lightweight leathers and more.

Priced at around $2.24 million plus taxes, only 106 of the McLaren Speedtail will be produced, all of which have already been reserved. If you’re lucky, you’ll be able to spot the Speedtail on the road during early 2020, when McLaren will be shipping out the first deliveries.
